Faith in the Future

I'd grown so used to emptiness, so accustomed to my tears
till the point I hardly noticed them, they accompanied the years
the world became the thing to hide from, a place where I did not belong
until one moment of enlightenment, realising what was wrong

I have learned now what there is to believe in
and have faith, faith in the future, and belief that a star shines above
out of loneliness, and from forlornness, I have searched and found an answer
I have learned now, I have faith, faith in the future, and my heart has found love

I'd failed in each and every way to accept and comprehend
why existence should have purpose, why all sadnesses should end
my apathetic resignation was pessimistic and so strong
until I turned to look inside of me, recognising what was wrong
